Patent Leather Care Tips
Patent leather is a processed leather coated to create a structured material with a high shine glossy finish. While durable and water-resistant, it is prone to visible scuffing.
Here are our favorite ways to keep patent leather looking like new!

Tip #1: Surface Clean First
Due to it's coating, patent leather has a smooth but almost sticky finish, which attracts dust & lint easily. Prior to using any solvents, use a microfiber towel to wipe down your patent item, trying your best to remove any dirt, dust, or lint. Once surface clean, you can attend to the leather itself.

Tip #2: Use a Patent Leather Cleaner
Patent leather can get smudgy, water marks, or dirty with regular use. Using a patent leather cleaner after multiple uses can help keep your item looking new. Our favorite is the Vernis Rife from Saphir. Apply a thin layer of the cleaner with provided cloth or microfiber towel in circular motions. Wait a few minutes until your treated area appears dry, it should develop a foggy film. Buff with dry cloth in circular motions until shiny again. Follow the instructions on the cleaner.

Tip #3: Proper Storage
Ensure patent leather items are clean & dry. Store in soft material like a dust bag or tissue paper in a box. Avoid contact between two patent leather items, (like a pair of shoes or handles of a handbag) always separating with cloth or tissue paper. Store in a neutral temperature space.
